1st Base Runner is music distilled from gritty life into crystalline collaborations of visual art. The brainchild of Texas native, multi-instrumentalist and producer Tim Husmann, the project weaves nostalgic 80’s dark wave, shoe gaze and a wall of analog synths into something undeniably fresh. Combined with UK artist Matt Needle’s elevated album art, a fistful of award winning music videos and an official showcase at SXSW, the project is turning heads. This is due in part to the deluge of releases — the newest EP 'Stay Gold’ is the fifth in only two years. The gritty, energetic album features two new members: enigmatic Austin-based drummer Adam Byram and bassist Kevin K. Rowe. The trio now completes Husmann’s vision for the project, backed by industry giant Dilly Gent as Creative Director, synch licensing/A&R veteran Scott Cresto and bulldog music supervisor Andy Ross. This project has teeth. It packs a punch of sound and visual art so intense that not only do you want to listen on repeat, you can’t look away either. The stunning new music video for the EP’s first track, 'One Small Spark', is handcrafted by iconic artist-director Justin Daashuur Hopkins. Husmann and Hopkins are collaborating on a mini-art doc to be released this summer. It appears 1st Base Runner isn’t trying to prove anything; it’s already been proven. This magnetic band and group of eclectic creatives have carved out a permanent place for themselves in the ever-shifting dunes of the music industry.
