One of the 318's first rap releases of 2019 is the stellar Like O Winter EP by Shreveport, Louisiana Producer/MC <a href="spotify:artist:3kiPhvKq0B5TF9dMyOvdu9" data-name="318 Lil One">318 Lil One</a> (Like O Productions). Combining the masterful sampling skills of <a href="spotify:artist:5K4W6rqBFWDnAN6FQUkS6x" data-name="Kanye West">Kanye West</a> with the fly stoner vibes of <a href="spotify:artist:6X8WdFjrNhXATMDSs26aCc" data-name="Curren$y">Curren$y</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:137W8MRPWKqSmrBGDBFSop" data-name="Wiz Khalifa">Wiz Khalifa</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3kiPhvKq0B5TF9dMyOvdu9" data-name="318 Lil One">318 Lil One</a> crafts a project full of futuristic Southernplayaisticadillacmuzik. With a voice and charisma reminiscent of the late <a href="spotify:artist:7v9bFXCdSMA2o3gS4nvp0F" data-name="Pimp C">Pimp C</a>, Lil One kicks a nimble and capable in pocket flow that weaves in and out of his spacey pads and crisp percussion. The sound is classic Dirty South with an emphasis on the future.
There is no doubt that Kanye West blazed the trail for dope producers who are as equally dope
rappers that can really rap. Adopting the alias Kanye Souf due to his catalog of soulful sampled Southern
bangers, O delivers the Kanye Souf EP. Expanding on the positive vibes set on his first
EP Like O Winter, O touches several different themes. “Head To The Sky” is a feel good inspirational joint
with crossover potential. He testifies to his faith on “Praise Is What I Do”. He reflects on maturity with
Shreveport legend Jaymee on “Changing Times.” The standout track “Imperfect Perfections” finds our
hero looking in the mirror and accepting who he sees looking back at him. But don’t think O has put out
the blunt as he remixes his lead single “California” and gets lifted on “I Get High”. Overall, Kanye Souf
establishes Like O as a formidable MC who just happens to knows his way around a drum machine and a
record player.
