5 Cent Sundays is a self-produced project by Ben Snyder, based in Maine, influenced by 90s emo, grunge, and alternative rock. All music is written, recorded, and produced independently.
Ben started playing guitar in 2003 at the age of 8, learned multiple instruments over the years, and began writing original music at 14.
5 Cent Sundays combines elements of 90s emo and grunge with shoegaze textures and alternative rock songcraft. Common stylistic features include guitar-driven arrangements, tape saturation and hiss used as sonic texture, straightforward confessional lyrics, and a DIY production aesthetic.
Snyder has also cited the band Cannons as a major inspiration for his interest in music production. He credits them with motivating him to experiment with recording techniques and develop his own DIY process, which eventually became 5 Cent Sundays.
