Houston native Lil' Flip emerged out of the Dirty South movement as one of the rappers the legendary DJ Screw would use out of an extremely select roster. This notoriety brought Flip to the forefront and his homemade cassettes would often sell by the trunkload at appearances. His reputation earned him the nickname "the Leprechaun," and he became one of the most in-demand MCs on the chopped and screwed/Dirty South circuit. His 2000 self-release, The Leprechaun, was the subject of an extremely heated battle between major labels, and eventually his label, Sucka Free Records, signed an exclusive deal with Columbia. 2002 saw the expanded re-release of The Leprechaun, with 7-1-3 and The Underground Legend following in the spring of 2003. ~ Rob Theakston, Rovi
