A Dying Reign are a 4-piece metal band from Teesside, UK, consisting of vocalists/guitarists James Gibson and Matt Sedgewick, drummer Joe Hall, and bassist Lewis Barrett-Conlan. Their music is inspired by Meshuggah, SikTh, Vildjharta, and more.
Originally forming in 2011 under the name Royal Blood (named after the Bury Tomorrow track), they have since evolved from their post-hardcore/metalcore roots, into a darker, more violent sound, and continue to progress on that path, finding influences from politics, religion, and war, amongst other current topics.
After taking a short break to focus on cementing a sound that suits them, and to write material, they released their self-titled EP in January 2018, and have continued to write new, more aggressive material since. They are known for their energetic live.
Their most recent release, Sky Burial, was released in February 2020, and is an indication of the direction the band are heading in musically.
