A Place to Go is the musical project of NY-based designer and artist Drew Litowitz. Litowitz crafts his music by distorting emotive folk songs and hard-hitting poetry through immersive, techno-futurist filters, creating a world where the lines between singer-songwriter and sound designer blur. A Place to Go's heartfelt and transcendent songs are sonically hijacked, warped, and twisted by their deepest impulses and animalistic desires for instant gratification.
With a background as a graphic designer and art director—constantly navigating the fetishization of aesthetics and creativity as solutions to life’s bigger questions—the project's glorious second LP—Tie-Dye Your Tombstone—delves into themes of disillusionment, love, pain, heartbreak, and hope. Wrapped in a burst of reverb, effects, and tie-dye textures, this collection culminates as a love song to our urges to decorate our lives with external meaning, and try and share the love we feel by any means necessary, even if we fail along the way. The soundtrack to falling out of love with the world, rediscovering oneself, and opening up to love again.
Tie Dye Your Tombstone is a seamless blend of new age folk's earnest enlightenment and art-rock's dry cynicism—a utopian spirituality set against a more sinister nihilistic backdrop. The result is a sound that’s as alienating as it is beautiful, capturing the tension between our superficial desires and the profound search for meaning as they merge into one.
