Despite being a recent introduction to the hip-hop scene, Aavery is already attracting attention with his artistic versatility within the genre. In his music, you'll find a fusion between hip-hop's roots and modern sound, sprinkled with references to soul and R&B. In addition, he has also begun to make a name for himself for his lyrical and technical prowess, where he has been praised for his ability in lyric writing and storytelling.

Behind the name Aavery, is Anfernee Avery Taperla, a 20-year-old, Trondheim-based rapper. Of Filipino origin, he moved to Trøndelag when he was 6 years old. The combination of cultures that he experienced and grew up with, has shaped his identity as an artist. Inspired by both old and new music, he has managed to create a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh.

In 2024 he released the EP, Childhood Dreams, where he presents inspirations from Dreamville, Saba and Freddie Gibbs, and he delivers reflective and strong lyrics with a playful flow - gliding seamlessly over groovy beats.

Recently, Aavery has garnered good reviews, including from P3, who praise his melodic expression and impressive versatility. He played two concerts at the festival, Trondheim Calling 2025, where his stage presence and energy were highlighted.
