Abbotfinney's namesake is a mysterious, yet clever, take on the wit of popular culture. Obviously citing Abbott of Abbott & Costello, and Finney from the John Knowles' novel A Separate Peace, this modern rock four-piece originates from Washington and positively refrains from the stereotypical findings of Seattle's '90s grunge scene. Frontman Jeffrey Alan, who started his music career supporting gigs for Al Stewart, the BoDeans, and Crosby, Stills & Nash, came together with guitarist Keith Wright, bassist Philip Georgas, and drummer Scott King in the late '90s. Abbotfinney plays into crisp melodies and abrasive lyrics to cast a shimmering slice of pop harmony. Their self-titled debut was released in mid-2000, achieving critical acclaim via Internet radio with several singles becoming mainstays on LiquidAudio.com. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
