ABDUL born Abdulmalik Usman on September 15th in Lagos Nigeria. Grew up between Ajegunle and Festac, where the way of life, the community feel, uniqueness of the areas and the dawn of the new phase of Afrobeats through the likes of Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh and Baba Fryo greatly influenced his style and representation of music. He is an ambitious, courageous, caring and talented individual who has decided to pick a path in music as a result of the environment and his family. He intends to make the world a more peaceful place with his music. His role models includes 2face, Daniel Wilson, Sunny Ade, Fela and Onyeka Onwenu. He first dabbled in music during his “Social day” in Secondary school after which he started professionally in the year 2000 as a duo called BlackTribe when they got their first gig at Groove in Festac Town. He describes his music style as Afrobeats/Afro-soul.
