Born and raised in New Jersey, a young Gerard Dorsey, better known as About Blaze, took to music instead of hanging and running the streets. He loved sports , but the only thing he really wanted to do was rap because his older brother, Jaliyl, was his rap idol. He wanted to be just like his brother and even to this day, he shows some of his characteristics in the music he makes. Unfortunately, Jaliyl passed away late September of 2019 and that left Gerard and the rest of his family devastated. Yet with the relentless struggles and tragedies coming his way, he still kept going on with his music because it was the only thing that made him feel happy and free. It made him feel that he had a purpose in life. And his purpose is to speak his feelings in song and hopefully reach someone that can relate.
