Based in Central Pennsylvania, Above the Treachery was formed in 2021 by a collection of musicians trying to escape the seriousness of the cut-throat metal scene and focus on having a good time jamming, recording, and performing original music. No pressure, no agenda, no fame. Throughout 2021 and 2022, Above the Treachery raced to the stage performing a few new songs but mostly material brought from past bands.
After spending a year together the Above the Treachery entered the studio to record a demo EP of older material and began writing new material that aligned with their combined strengths. In late 2022, the band released their self-produced debut demo EP, 'Year One: The First Year,' containing five of the songs they performed live in 2021 and 2022.
Through lineup changes and position changes the band got to know each other and found their sound. In 2023 Above the Treachery wrote and recorded a new 11-song LP, 'Hope You Rot,' released in July of that year.
