Aco Takenaka

Aco Takenaka is a Tokyo-based singer-songwriter weaving ancient chants and contemporary ambient soundscapes into deeply moving songs. Singing in Japanese, English, Portuguese, and ancient languages from various traditions, her music calls to the spirits of nature — both within and around us.
Aco is the founder of Kazoku ~ The Singing Tribe, an overtone choir rooted in deep listening and connection. Through her solo work and her ambient collaboration Spacious, she revives sacred mantras and folk traditions from Japan, Brazil, Africa, Tibet, and India into healing modern compositions.

Her voice has been featured in concerts, workshops, and short films, resonating with listeners of all generations. Whether interpreting Buddhist sutras or Shinto prayers, her sound invites a return to the origin of song — where music is a prayer.
