ADJUSTER rose from the ashes of guitarist Tom's previous bands <a href="spotify:artist:2cRl5e68s37QzMbuZ83bwL" data-name="Justice For Dragons">Justice For Dragons</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4pUjnssLCLtG0Es0q0BApi" data-name="The Harry Macintosh Project">The Harry Macintosh Project</a> after he relocated from the UK to Australia in 2017. After struggling to find a vocalist and committed bassist, ADJUSTER eventually settled on being an instrumental band. The final line up consisted of Tom Jessen-Cox as the band's main composer and guitarist, Brodie Muller on bass and Rob Ward on drums respectively.
The band's music has an amazing ability to maintain listeners' attention, despite the lack of vocals. Time signatures and dynamics chop and change and they blend numerous genres producing a truly unique sound. Elements of <a href="spotify:artist:75U40yZLLPglFgXbDVnmVs" data-name="The Mars Volta">The Mars Volta</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0Opj9xi9HHrH0L9uHAKnKm" data-name="Oceansize">Oceansize</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:40Yq4vzPs9VNUrIBG5Jr2i" data-name="The Smashing Pumpkins">The Smashing Pumpkins</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1km0R7wy712AzLkA1WjKET" data-name="Biffy Clyro">Biffy Clyro</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5htSiC0q8XB5W3w0jFopLu" data-name="Heights">Heights</a> can be heard throughout. However, there is a distinctly progressive bent delivered with a punk-like aggression you'd expect to hear in an In Utero-era <a href="spotify:artist:6olE6TJLqED3rqDCT0FyPh" data-name="Nirvana">Nirvana</a>.
ADJUSTER released their eponymous debut album in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, making touring and promotion difficult. Unfortunately, due to internal issues within the band and Brodie relocating to South Australia, they called it quits in 2021 with their final performance at the Blacken Open Air festival in Alice Springs.
Tom is now recording and releasing music as a solo artist under the name <a href="spotify:artist:4IiK1HK0PUxGl8kc0dqPka" data-name="Kyori">Kyori</a>.
