Age of Departures is a weekend project I (<a href="spotify:artist:5kFXOx8ONHOsWhXc2uOfuq" data-name="Daniel Ciurlizza">Daniel Ciurlizza</a>) set up and produced with my composer/producer/sound designer friends who I mix, write, produce, and work with.
When I'm not working on this, I'm:
- Writing music for films, trailers, ads, and other visual media;
- Cooking dinner too late and listening to an audiobook;
- Thinking of different ways I can be better at helping the people I work and interact with.
The name AGE OF DEPARTURES is inspired by all the stages of life as we grow. First, we are born. From there, we're old enough to go to school—the first time leaving the nest on a daily basis. What follows is life passing by at lightning speed: the need for independence from adults when we're teenagers, graduating from various levels of schooling and departing from friends, leaving home permanently, seeing friends and family pass away, and experiencing loss (and new life) at many levels. When finally, it's our turn to depart from this world—hopefully feeling fulfilled and having left it better than when we first arrived. Life is full of departures, but that's what makes it worth living as fully as possible.
