Agni Avshar is a vocalist situated in Skopje, North Macedonia. Her love and talent for musical expression reached their realization when, at the age of 8, she was enrolled in the Elementary Music School, where she learned how to play the piano and music theory for 7 years. Yet, it wasn’t until 2016 when her professional music upgrading and endeavor began, when she started her studies on the Jazz Academy in Skopje. Since then she has collaborated with many renowned and highly talented musicians among which Vlatko Stefanovski, Huan Atkins, Dzijan Emin, the Macedonian opera and Ballet and the Macedonian Philharmonics. She often attributes most of her contemporary music knowledge to her spiritual teacher with whom she works on a daily basis and to her university professors’ music proficiency.
Influenced by the jazz, blues and soul’s greatest vocalists, her authentic sound is a mixture of sensuality and power. She enjoys singings the classical jazz standards and jazzing up some modern tunes of various genres.
On 8 October 2021 she released her debut single “Soznavam” which encompasses both scat and jazz vocalization. The text and the video of this song of hers, in a symbolic way, portray the life of a young girl who goes astray on her life path, at the same time seeking for solutions and salvation, because the lifestyle she lives fills her with a sense of unease, anguish, sadness and anxiety.
