AIBU is a singer-songwriter from the warm and sunny island of Jamaica. In a country dominated by Dancehall and Reggae, she stood out as the different kid, listening to songs that were not the tradition of her culture like rock, heavy metal, alternative, indie, kpop, etc. From a very young age she realized she was good at singing but was too shy to show off her vocal abilities so she limited her performances to her family, her church and her mirror. As she got older, she began writing music and coming up with her own melodies. As someone who does not play instruments, she found other ways to get her ideas out by recording humming unto voice notes and using beat making apps. She draws her influences from artists like Melanie Martinez, Aurora, Billie Eilish and Jessie Reyes. She hopes to be able to share he music with people and break the stereotypes of what she should sound like. As much as she loves indie and and pop she doesn’t want to be defined by just one sound and genre, and strives for flexibility.
