Aimée Britannia van Staden is a 23 year old singer, songwriter, producer and pianist. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa but currently living in Liverpool, UK, Aimée expresses her unique upbringing through music, mixing her African origin with English influence to create a futuristic fusion of melodic trap, hip hop, electronic and dream pop.
Aimée's passion for music began as a child, playing piano with her father. When she was 8 years old, Aimée received the top mark in South Africa for her Initials Piano Exam. Her piano theory background has since allowed her to self-learn music production, and Aimée began recording and producing her own music at age 14 in her bedroom. Aimée wants to remain an independent musician throughout her career, as this allows for complete originality and authenticity in every move she makes.
Whilst her genres range from trap to pop to jazz to classical piano, Aimée's topics are generally forward-looking, themed by dreamworlds, a utopian future, conscious love, social justice and psychedelic experience. Aimée's latest self-produced album "Kukuda", translating to “Love” in Shona, symbolises a cycle of love. This represents, for Aimée, her love for people, romantic love and communal love for the world. Her ultimate goal is to not only have a successful music career, but also to use her wealth to reduce as much suffering in South Africa as she possibly can.
