Airbird is the solo moniker of Joel Ford, a Brooklyn-based indie electronic artist known for several collaborative projects, including <a href="spotify:artist:5M2s8svjmDLpo9GVavfgeB">Tigercity</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1ph5qRQagrduQ3jAkjDlHN">Games</a>/<a href="spotify:artist:3eTOYD8UyQa3MalrtkyKha">Ford & Lopatin</a> (with <a href="spotify:artist:2wPDbhaGXCqROrVmwDdCrK">Oneohtrix Point Never</a>'s <a href="spotify:artist:13PoSkMaBxmC6EeAu2oBhH">Daniel Lopatin</a>), and Ejecta/<a href="spotify:artist:54q9bW74hKtp2aua0cmjDb">Young Ejecta</a>. His work as Airbird drifts between dreamy, sparkling downtempo synth-pop and ecstatic, neon dance beats (sometimes during the same song), with detailed production flourishes and his own electronically manipulated falsetto vocals. Airbird debuted in 2011 with the release of a split cassette with <a href="spotify:artist:1VtDtDuhfqks3WFUbQrc97">Megafortress</a>, as well as the "City vs. Mountains" 12" single on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Software%22">Software</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:13PoSkMaBxmC6EeAu2oBhH">Daniel Lopatin</a>'s label). This was followed in 2012 by the Trust EP, also on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Software%22">Software</a>. Following these releases, Airbird remixed <a href="spotify:artist:4AqiYN2GsRkmrQ7nAYrx1T">Chrome Canyon</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4j24CFa4A1jAMKNHrwXV0f">Korallreven</a> in 2013, and began working with <a href="spotify:artist:420VlYgk63HbGyGddUNrDw">Napolian</a> (Ian Evans), an experimental hip-hop producer signed to <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Software%22">Software</a>. The two debuted with a collaborative single ("In the Zone") in 2013, and a full-length album (Mr. Foolish) appeared on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Cascine%22">Cascine</a> in 2015. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
