A Malaysian born singer, Aishah (born Wah Aishah binti Wan Ariffin) got her start as the frontwoman for New Zealand rock outfit the Fan Club. The band, which existed in the late '80s and early '90s, had a number of hit singles and released their first album, Sensation, in 1988. In 1991, the band won a major award at the New Zealand Music Awards, but broke up soon after. Aishah, who had been in New Zealand as a student, returned to Malaysia, where she picked up her career as a solo artist performing songs in Malay. ~ Chris True, Rovi
