AJ Vaass

AJ Vaass is a songwriter and musician from Lagos, Nigeria with a distinctive sound called Afrojuice. He spent the first few years of his career as a recording/performing artist, and then later transitioned into a full blown songwriter, while creating film soundtracks and pushing the bounds of what a music creator can do with their craft.

His musical influences include Fela Kuti, Tony Allen, Sade, Steely Dan, and Rush. He draws inspiration from a range of Afrobeats, R&B and HipHop Artists. Before AJ Vaass knew he wanted to make music, he had been writing songs since he was 15 years old, basically anytime he felt inspired at home or in school, as a result, lyrics had always been at the core of his creative process even before the beat, melodies and harmonies.

He’s an alumni of Tenstrings Music Institute and it’s from that experience he has been able to hone his skills as a composer moving from the realm of an artist to a musician having explored the worlds of production, composition, songwriting, live music, sheet music, piano and stage performance.
