AJAVE is a charity project, started by the leadguitarist / lead vocalist of HARDLAND.
Profits coming from this project go in full to charity.
The charity fund for this first single (Mama), will be Stichting Alzheimer Nederland.
It all started when my mom got diagnosed with Alzheimers. As it was a shock to find out, I started reading all kinds of information about this mental condition. I learned that music and images can help Alzheimer patients to deal with their problem and keep them focussed longer. I decided to write a song about her (and our) life as a family and created a video clip for the song that I filled with pictures from our family albums and some newspaper coverage about a tragedy that hit our family when I was about 6 years old.
My mom realised and knew it was "her" song! She loved it! It helped her coping with Alzheimer's, cos watching the video or listening to the music while I drove her around town in my car, helped her to let go of the mental stress that Alzheimer's caused her.
It was the video that she watched all the way until the end and when it was done she closed her eyes to never open them again.
As heartbreaking as it was, I felt good and proud of what it had meant to her.
I hope by raising awareness it may lead to gaining funds to help develop a cure.
Thank you!
