Akedia

Akedia is a progressive technical death metal band founded in Central Illinois. Originally formed in early 2010 by Lead Guitarist Matt Reed who had studied classical guitar at Bradley University and co-composer and drummer Austin Little after he returned home, honorably discharged from the marines after injuring his legs in service. Early influences ranged from classical composers such as J.S. Bach and Béla Bartók to the technical death metal titans of the mid 2000's 'Necrophagist' and 'Spawn of Possession'. In 2017 Dakota Boeker joined the lineup on rhythm guitar, followed by lead vocalist Shawn Mills in early 2018. Many bassists joined and left Akedia, challenged by their driven, technical riffage, currently on the lineup is Kenneth Moore (ex bassist of Crown the Martyr). Akedia released their first single "Swarm of Creatures" October 31st, 2019 and are currently working with several local producers and artists on their their 7 track Ep 'Katharsis'. A tentative release date of March 2020 has been hinted at, though the band is intent on releasing a quality production regardless.
