Singer, songwriter and producer all at once, Akemi has a spiritual perspective on music. Her passion is natural; to her, music is cathartic and therapeutic.
After releasing her debut EP in 2020 and a few singles - notably “in my head”, used in the Chanel Resort Collection 2021 commercial, she’s been on tour with the French musical Les Retrouvailles while co-organizing a blues festival in 2023.
Born in Paris, she grew up between the South of France and the capital. She later moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music.
Self taught, she spent hours singing behind her piano and her microphone. At 16, as she was in a dark place, she started to write her own songs. Music became essential and a reason to keep going. It became a healing process, a tool to survive her darkest hours, whether it was through other artists or her own lyrics. Akemi felt the power of music, the strength that some lyrics can have on one’s mental health and our sometimes subconscious need to express our feelings and emotions.
Her goal? Help and heal through her music. With the idea that all emotions deserve to be celebrated and truly felt, music is the best way to do so. Whether it’s through tears or dancing, she aspires to share with the public her vulnerability and deepest emotions, hoping that someone in the audience might find a piece of themselves in the lyrics in order to exteriorise their feelings.
