A long trek for lead singer and founder James Donahower led to the formation of this American power pop and rock outfit. In the late '90s, Donahower formed Dirty Pictures, a group based in Prague, Czechoslovakia. That group received a lot of attention and had three hit singles. The success of the band caught the attention of British promoter Mean Fiddler, who believed fame was soon to come. But Donahower split the group up and traveled to the United States to form Alablaster. In 2001, the band entered the studio to record their first full-length debut album. The album, Ancient Ruins, Modern Inventions, was released on Veronica Records in the summer of 2002.
