Alan Russell is the founder of Hott Records and Black Vinyl Records. In 2024, Alan will have worked as a DJ for 40 years! Originally from London, he was a columnist at ECHOES magazine, a producer at London's Kiss FM, and a promoter/resident at the long-running Soul Movement club in London's Chinatown. Alan enjoyed a ten-year spell DJ’ing all over Italy and beyond, long before most UK DJS had played outside of England. He has played at many of the best clubs in Europe, including Kadoc and Locomia in Portugal, Echoes, Angels Of Love, Underground City, Fluid, and many more in Italy, Aquabooty in New York, The End Up, DNA Lounge, and Pink in San Francisco, Red Dog in Chicago, Barrage in Zante, Djooniterally hundreds of others in dozens of countries. A remixer and producer under various names, including EC2, Splice Of Life, Tinderbox, Futuresoul, Militant Soul Productions, AK47, Ghettoblaster, and more recently as Russe in Paris, and lll & Woods, Project 268, and under his own name, his recent releases include an album on Italy’s prestigious IRMA Records and singles on Call & Response, AO Records, Astrolife Recordings, and of course Black Vinyl. Currently enjoying semi-retirement on the Caribbean island of Antigua, Alan is returning to the decks for a short series of special events in London and Lisbon.
