Alankrita (a.k.a Alan) is a singer-songwriter from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. She moved to Mumbai two years ago to grow, not just as an artist, but also as a person.
Growing up in a toxic environment, she faced body shaming and bullying, and always felt like she didn’t belong. Her safe space was a tiny room with two old speakers, where she’d scribble lyrics in her diaries and sing for hours
In 11th grade, she took a leap and auditioned for her school band. She was selected as the lead singer, and that was the start of her music journey.
Though self-taught, her hunger to learn took her to A.R. Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory in 2021. She entered knowing nothing about the ABCs of music — just that she loved to sing. Surrounded by incredibly trained musicians, she started comparing herself. The pressure, the self-doubt, and all the pent-up emotions took a toll, until one night, it all came screaming out — and became her debut single, “Voices in My Head.”
Most of her songs begin as poems or thoughts scribbled in a diary. She writes from lived experience — about mental health, societal pressure, and the pain we hide. She loves pop, soul and rock but doesn’t box herself in. She lets emotion lead the way.
When she sings, emotions come alive. Her voice isn’t just heard- it’s felt.
Inspired by artists like Michael Jackson, RM, Adele, and Jeff Satur, she dreams of world tours— but more than that, she hopes her voice reaches those holding it all in — to remind them they’re not alone.
