Glasgow, Scotland-based alternative rock ensemble Album Club started out as a group of friends meeting to discuss music before becoming a band in their own right. They presented an eponymous debut album in 2022.
They originally started gathering to talk about albums in 2019, meeting at The Laurieston as organized by de facto leader MJ Macarthy. The group boasts a wide variety of members, including playwright Douglas Maxwell, actress and writer Isobel McArthur, novelist and playwright Cathy Forde, journalist and writer Peter Geoghegan, Gaelic arts member Rhona NicDhughaill, and two members of <a href="spotify:artist:4wavWMHhIiUXxwCuWsHzXo">the Delgados</a> in <a href="spotify:artist:0CgHJ8bXtKvGVQepJEhTHK">Emma Pollock</a> and Paul Savage. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 2022, with everyone contributing in their own way, sometimes providing lyrics or poems whilst others worked on vocals, arrangements, and instrumentation. ~ Liam Martin, Rovi
