ALCATUNE is an instrumental band inspired by post-rock, dark ambient and shoegaze soundscapes. Their sound features a wide, powerful aesthetic punctuated by minimialistic, extraterrestrial elements.
With two studio albums, one EP and a number of singles released to date, including a track featured in the 'Refuge One' compilation from Ripcord Records (Glasgow) and colaborations with artists from different countries, the band has come along way from its birthplace, 5 years ago, in the bedroom of Portuguese composer and multi-intrumentalist, David Lopes. Songs like “It Is A Good Death” or “Coleraine” from the debut EP “Half As Much But Twice As Elegant” and more recently on the single "Swallowed by Berlin" demonstrate the band's intention to integrate and experiment with shoegaze and synth elements. The songs centre around lived emotions, personal scenes and experiences which are intentionally captured in an open way to invite dfferent perspectives and interpretations.
The band have a new album set for release next Autumn and a clear direction of where they want to go in terms of sound design and exploration.
