Expanding upon Portuguese-American guitarist and singersongwriter Alexandre Oriano’s compositions, Alek Rein’s captivating live jams take their audiences on a journey through the golden days of rock music: from the mellow spaced-out San Francisco sound to the street fighting bluesy riffage of early glam rockers; from the foot-stomping jams of flannel-wearing freaks to the pastoral longing of the lost poets of the late 1960s — all these rich aesthetics come together in a multilayered storytelling act where you’ll find yourself headbanging to tunes either about mythological entities or the equally legendary lives of ordinary folk. «An album with a really tight band sound, it added psychedelia to the eternity of the song in order to wander through the same dreams which inspired folks like Syd Barrett, Alexander 'Skip' Spence or Faine Jade, also with that symbiotic union of the Crazy Horse or the Fairport Convention» (Bruno Silva, 2020). The band's lineup has changed a lot since 2010, but it now includes frontman Alex Oriano, Martim Seabra (bv; g), Sun Blossoms' Alexandre Fernandes (bg), and Humberto Dias (Hércules, Jasmim, Atalaia Airlines) (d).
Alek Rein has performed in most major Portuguese venues and festivals, such as Galeria Zé dos Bois, Centro Cultural de Belém, Paredes de Coura, Super Bock Super Rock, and opened to world famous acts such as Angel Olsen, Thurston Moore or White Fence, and more underground artists such as Katie Von Schleicher, Daniel Knox or Howard Eynon.
