Alex Dupree is a published poet, who's spent much of the past few years teaching at UC-Irvine, playing in the L.A.-based bands Dawn & Dupree and Mister Paradise, and at artist residencies in Wyoming and Texas. Originally from Texas, Alex Dupree founded the Trapdoor Band in Austin in the early 00s, releasing three albums before switching to the Idyl moniker and releasing two albums under that name.

2017's You Winsome, You Lonesome was the first album released solely under his name. It's a sturdy songwriter's album with heady, heavy doses of indie rock and country flourishes, (featuring members of Balmorhea), that drew comparisons to both Bill Callahan and Willie Nelson. That record will finally see a wider release across all three physical formats and digital streaming platforms in 2020.
