Spawned 1993 from the plastic suburb of Plano, Texas comes Alex Wilcox. Since 2004 he’s blended Catholic hymns, Frusciante arpeggios, Hendrix feedback, Aphex programming, and Texan writ.

Early guitar-heros, John Frusciante, Tom Morello, Jimi Hendrix.
Bands later. Played at local bars and clubs in Dallas. His band, Toro Vega, extremely talented teenagers, ripped blues & funk-distortion against wall of emo bands.

Found Ableton, surrounded guitar-playing with electronics. Played in the sandbox. Substituted guitar lines for synth lines, eventually exposed to Paul Kalkbrenner, Modeselektor, Berlin Techno Clubs. He grew into techno.

Moved to LA, set up microphones for Tyler, the Creator, cleaned up after Pharrell, gave MikeWillMadeIt crazy straws, and quit after a month of interning at Chalice Music Studios in Hollywood.

Lived in a shitty windowless hotbox music studio in central Hollywood - mercilessly producing hours and hours of music.

Moved to Detroit. Produced at UR Headquarters and DJ’d around city. Self-released album.

Then released on labels of Boys Noize, Nina Kraviz, Ellen Allien, Bjarki, Anetha, and Modeselektor. The tracks are played by countless DJ’s at countless venues. What do they sound like? Alex Wilcox.

Transformed his DJ-sets into raw, relentless, and hilarious punk rock techno sets.

His new Southern-Gothic-Punk-Rock-Techno Album “Identity Crisis,” drops on Bpitch Control in October 23, 2025.
