Since the release of Le Grand Cahier on streaming platforms in 2017, he has been taking the classical world by storm and amassing millions of streams on YouTube and Spotify. With an ever-growing reputation as one of the most gifted and inventive contemporary composers of classical music, Alexander’s works have been widely performed across Europe and abroad, and have been featured on the BBC Radio (UK) and ABC Radio Australia, among others.
Born in Minsk in 1962, Alexander graduated in Musicology from the local State Music College in 1982, and went on to study Composition at the Belarusian State Academy of Music under Professor Dmitry Smolsky. He has attended masterclasses and workshops with composers such as Jonathan Harvey and Michael Nyman (Great Britain), Louis Andriessen (Holland), Martin Bresnick (USA), Sylvano Bussotti (Italy), Tristan Murail and François-Bernard Mâche (France).
Throughout his career, Alexander has delved into many musical dimensions, penning works for chamber, choral and symphony ensembles, as well as electro-acoustic compositions.
