Alexander Westlund, a multi-instrumentalist from the deep woods in Sweden explores sounds and timbres to create emotional and unsettling music. Building his own instruments and mixing these with analog synths has been his focus the past 2 years and can be heard in his new single "From Beneath the Surface". He is now a professional film composer, working on both television shows and documentaries. This autumn he will score "The Mind" an intriguing and emotional documentary by Roozbeh Janghorban. Meanwhile he will continue to produce stand-alone music that captures and challenges the listener.
In December 2022 he released his first album "Rebirth" a blend of ambient and experimental electronic music. This album is an homage to his pregnant wife, the changes her body will go through and how to become a pillar of strength and support. Using his voice, violin and synths to craft dissonant and even sometimes microtonal soundscapes and rhythms.
In early 2024 he will release an album called "När Trädens Stammar Kallar". A concept album telling a story about a post-apocalyptic world plagued by deforestation. A small village prays for the forest to return. Ruled by a cult-like society, they perform rituals to appease a mysterious creature in the forest. The album is crafted by sampling various instruments such as vocals, violin, wine glasses and tuning forks. These elements are then manipulated with modular synths, creating unsettling atmospheres that tells the story cronogically.
