After the demise of his nearly decade long stint in Soft Candy, a Chicago psych band, Alexx headed to LA to gamble on being in music town for inspiration. With the invention of his name he came out with what was really supposed to be the proximate Soft Candy release, In the Mirror Balloon EP, released in March 2020, was very much still in the 60s psych style of the former band, even some of the songs co-written & recorded with former bandmates.
After spending time writing songs in his LA apartment recording in his home studio, he released the Magic Maker LP (December 2020) only on Bandcamp. A shorter, more concise version of this album, the Magic Maker EP was released on major streaming networks in May of 2021. During this time many more songs (34 in total) were written under the name Words Are Spells written during the pandemic. This album still remains unreleased.
Soon after came new inspiration by experimenting with different formats after having to sell said home studio and move to Brazil to be with his now wife. Inspired by her and their relationship and the limitations of working without a proper studio, he wrote the Smooth Like Caramel LP and has been releasing singles since.
Plans are to release the Smooth Like Caramel LP at the end of this spring, all the while featuring limited editions of previous albums and other surprises to come this year.
