Alf Robertson is a Swedish country singer who emerged during the 1970s and peaked in popularity during the 1980s, and whose legacy carried on in subsequent decades as his greatest hits were recompiled time and time again. Born June 8, 1941, in Gothenburg, he made his recording debut in 1969 with the album En Liten Fågel Flög... on RCA Victor. One of his more memorable albums of the 1970s was Alf Robertson i Nashville (1974), released in both Swedish- and English-language versions on CBS Records. During the 1980s he reached new heights of popularity, particularly with the early-'80s albums Mitt Land (1981), Emily's Foto (1982), and Det Kommer Från Hjärtat (1983), which were Top 40 hits on the Swedish albums chart. Robertson continued to chart in later years with albums such as Soldaten Och Kortleken (2001) and Rosenkyssar (2002), though most commercially impressive was the double-disc best-of compilation Alf Robertsons Bästa (2008), which was a Top Five hit on the albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
