Canadian singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Alonzo Holt got his break after posting videos of himself covering popular songs on YouTube. Born in London, Ontario in 1999, Holt is a largely self-taught musician who began covering songs by pop and R&B artists in his teens. Initially, Holt's videos were recorded by his mother, who posted them to YouTube for family members to see. Eventually, Holt's videos began drawing thousands of hits and, as his popularity grew digitally, the music industry took notice. In 2011, U.S. record executive Scooter Braun brought Holt to the attention of Epic Records management, who signed him to a recording contract. Holt then moved to Island Records via an offer from legendary producer L.A. Reid. In 2012, Holt released his debut album, The First Chapter (YouTube Covers by Alonzo Holt). In 2013, Holt preceded the release of his second album of cover songs, The Second Chapter, with his version of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," featuring British X Factor winner James Arthur. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
