Melbourne' Indie Folk artist Amarina Waters has a name she describes as sounding like the latest suburban housing estate village.
“Welcome to Amarina Waters; the perfect place to raise the kids, with excessively large identical houses, out of place palm trees and a man made lake.”
This is the kind of tongue in cheek humour laced throughout Amarina’s electric indie folk. Her music is infused with ideas stolen from places such as her dinner plate, the backyard, other people, the world. Her songs are laden with clever contradiction; raw and funny, fierce and delicate, romantic yet strikingly candid.
An active and much loved member of Melbourne’s indie music scene, Amarina has shared a stage with the likes of Angie McMahon, Gretta Ray, Broads,
Al Parkinson, Emilee South, Loni Rae Thomson, as well as performances at Brunswick Music Festival, End Of The Line and Darebin Music Feast, and a sold out launch of her debut single A Sense Of You.
2019 saw the first two releases from Amarina’s forthcoming debut album, recorded in New Zealand with award winning producer Ben Edwards (Marlon Williams, Aldous Harding, Julia Jacklin).
Hungry Ghost is the third single from Amarina Waters' forthcoming debut album.
A lamentation of the barriers to human connection, this vulnerable piece hits the airwaves on September 4th.
