Amber Dreams is a harp/voice duo..harp+ voice+ beats, that is!

"Songs for a Melancholy Soul" is an album full of the reflections and desires of a small town girl moving through adulthood, good times, love, pregnancy loss, and motherhood.

Ricky has a degree in harp performance from Texas Tech University. He recorded and toured with The Polyphonic Spree, playing for audiences across America and around the world.

I (Amber) began writing songs from a young age, although most of them stayed in a series of diaries. When we moved to San Jose, California, I began writing and developing my songs more fully. Ricky added his harp and beats to the songs, expressing his own creativity and bringing a new sound to my writing. "Something New" was written around this time, as I imagined what my life could be like living in a big city for the first time, and what I even wanted that life to be like..or not.

We performed around the Bay Area for awhile under the name Erased Text, and then we had babies, which slowed things down a bit. You can listen to "Little Things" and "Here Comes the Dawn" to get a glimpse into my experience as a new mother. "Ghost Town" is a manifestation of my rage, sorrow, and feelings of betrayal at my own body after a miscarriage.

The album has a mix of songs- harp+beats+voice, singer-songwriter type songs with piano, harp solo, and a more classically styled harp and voice duet. It can be described as trip-hop, indie pop, dream pop, or just...Amber Dreams.
