Amber Lamps is a 3-piece rock band from Queens, New York. With guitarist/singer Brian Greene, bassist/singer Eddie James, and drummer Jenna Noe.
Plaidypuss combines the high energy of an Amber Lamps live performance with a high production value. Despite some heavy subject matter, the overall message of the album is positive, with an emphasis on strong, radio-friendly lyrics and memorable hooks. Every song has a story behind it and within it, and many are infused with the humor in the absurdities of being a young adult today.
Their sophomore effort, On the Lamb, released September 14, 2018, was recorded at Cherry Pit Studios in Menomonee Falls, WI, in April, 2018. It continues the threads from their debut, and expands to a wider variety of genres and lyrical topics. Every song reflects a personal story, and highlights the unique, often humorous story-telling and songwriting of guitarist/lead singer, Brian Greene.
‘Wanderlust’ describes the perks of being a homebody over a pulsating, Ramones-by-way-of-California rhythm. ‘Catastrophe’ documents a failed barroom pick-up over a bluesy beat and a ripping, melodic guitar solo that tells a story of its own. Companion pieces ‘Trophy Beer’ and ‘This Just In’ explore the never-ending cycle of violence and outrage in today’s America, searching for an answer with varied results on the two most straight-ahead-punk songs the band has produced yet.
