Amberson-Baggett Band was formed in 2011 by Michael Baggett and Ted Amberson, who were co-workers at a chemical weapons disposal plant. Michael had been writing southern rock since the late 1970's, and had performed and recorded this material throughout the southeast US. He asked Amberson to sing on the collection that was released as "That's Gonna Leave A Mark". The CD suffered from lackluster production, but still found its way into the hearts of true southern rock fans worldwide. To round out a full band line-up, they were soon joined by Michael's sons Chris on drums and Luke on bass guitar. A second release. "You Are Here", was better produced and introduced the band's anthem "Rise of the Rebel". In 2012 the band began working more out of Nashville, and released the single "Sweet Lady Blue" which had more of a country flavor. Management suggested the band should change their name to Dixie Kin, and they performed under this name for awhile, moving Luke Baggett to second lead guitar and adding bassist Tom Nance. In December 2015, the constant performing and personality clashes finally brought the band to an end. January 2016 would have seen a tour beginning in Nashville to support "Sweet Lady Blue", which was gaining a lot of interest on American country radio stations. Michael Baggett, Luke Baggett, and Tom Nance performed with the southern rock band Coosa until Tom's passing in 2022.
