South African pop/rock outfit Amersham consisting of school friends Adam Lomas and Nathan Waywell performed their first professional concert in 1992. Tim Trotter, the drummer and Sasha Sonnbichler the guitarist, joined the group just before the recording of their debut album Pickled in 1994. Produced by Dennis East and released by BMG the album quickly gathered momentum with singles charting across the country. In 1997 Amersham sold out a 3 arena tour of South Africa with fellow label mates Just Jinjer and The Usual. The following year their single Matchbox reached #1 on the 5FM charts. That same year Amersham were nominated for Best Pop Album at the SAMA's. By 2000 the band had splintered having released 5 albums. In 2020 they announced the release of a new EP.
