Prior to scoring film and television projects, Amritha Vaz was a human rights attorney so she's very interested in helping tell stories with purpose. She started her composer career writing with Academy Award winning composer Mychael Danna on "500 Days of Summer", and in 2016 earned a place in Sundance's prestigious Composer Lab. Her score for Disney Junior's "Mira Royal Detective" resulted in nominations for two Annie Awards, as well as a nomination for ASCAP's Composers' Choice award for Best TV Music. Her passion for inclusivity motivated her to help found the "Composer's Diversity Collective" with Michael Abels and seven other L.A. composers. She is proud to continue her advocacy work with the CDC, now as co-President. Her recent music credits include an episode of AppleTV's Emmy nominated series "Home", as well as a co-score for Vinod Kapri's "Pyre" with Mychael Danna. Since winning the Audience Award at the "Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival" where it premiered, "Pyre" continues to receive accolades, most recently 6 nominations (including one for Best Music) at the upcoming "Imagine India International Film Festival" in Spain.
