Consistently, Amy Obenski is known for her hauntingly emotional vocals and thought provoking lyrics. However, she is one of those artists who seems to do everything. She writes and sings, and is a classically trained pianist but also plays an array of other instruments. She also composed, arranged, produced and mixed her last six (out of seven) albums. Much of these recordings were done in her home studio with herself as recording engineer. She is currently experimenting with the release of cover songs done in her haunting Amy-esque style.
Obenski spent her childhood in San Diego studying classical and jazz while also hiding in her room writing poetry no one would hear. Once she began songwriting, all that time writing poems in solitude morphed into a talent for lyrics. She’s toured the U.S. and Europe, plus recorded and toured with her own French band (The Carbone Band), along with an Artist in Residence in Saint Herblain, France. You also may have heard her song, Carousel, on the hit TV Show, Grey’s Anatomy.
