An Empty Room is a sludge band from Oregon with an experimental bent and an apocalyptic lyrical focus on climate change.An Empty Room were formed in Oregon in 2016 as an instrumental two-piece ambient post-metal act. After adding Janys-Iren Faughn of <a href="spotify:artist:6lWfg4fiblKwzMFasZyohX" data-name="Entresol">Entresol</a> (later <a href="spotify:artist:4p2Zeb9XclofoJDCXFSTp7" data-name="Body Void">Body Void</a>) in 2017, they began evolving in a noisier direction with a bleaker, sludgier sound reminiscent of acts like Grief and Corrupted, and started using vocals in their music. In March of 2017 they released II, a single 30-minute evolving track of dark ambient, doom, noise, and sludge. January 2019 saw the release of the doom-laden The Palimpsest, featuring vocals from Dominique of the Eugene crust band Paranoiac. An Empty Room's final release was a split cassette with the German band Death Carrier released in July 2019 on Red Door Records. Members have gone on to Body Void and Shivering.
