Anders Nils is a multi-instrumentalist and composer of ambient and experimental music working in Ridgewood, Queens. His work uses synthesizers, guitars and software to create minimal melodies on top of a bed of droning textures.
His newest LP, Ideas of the Far Future (2022), started as a collection of generative patches built in Max For Live and his Eurorack modular synth that were used as music for sleeping, studying and reading before being compiled and published.
This origin acted as filter for ideas to narrow the focus to music that contains a quiet calmness, interesting but without a sense of intrusion.
Ideas of the Far Future continues the journey started with 2020’s Generative Loneliness to create a “nostalgia for places no one has ever been to” and was created with the intention of turning ideas born out of experimenting in an electronic space into sounds that feel planted in the real world.
