Andrea Balzani began his musical studies at a very early age through the guidance of Claudio Caponi, a flutist who performed in various prog rock bands of the 70's .
Shortly after he began to study piano with Mariano D'Amelio, subsequently with Walter Fischetti and Carlo Maria Dominici ( the last and youngest pupil of the great italian pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli ).
He received his Bachelor degree in piano at the Conservatory of Music of Aquila presenting a thesis on J. S. Bach and his Master degree presenting a thesis dedicated to the piano and guitar repertory.
In the following years he continued his studies in experimental composition, chamber music, gregorian chant and sacred music, electronic music, jazz, blues, ragtime etc.. and also in the research and study of ancient and contemporary sonorities. He has also partecipated in various masterclasses involving sound and recording techniques, clinics and in-depth analysis.
Pianist, keyboard player and versatile composer, his main repertoire is centered on new and experimental sonorities and also in the re-discovery of minor composers of the past and present. Author of various publications and recordings both as a soloist and with other artists.
Currently he is attending specialized courses in composition and is co-founder of the Musical Association “Hildegard”.
