Based in Vancouver, BC, Andrew Maranta is a singer, songwriter, and fingerstyle guitarist who blends atmospheric folk and indie rock to create landscapes full of intimacy, mystery, and peace. His songs are delicate yet purposeful and guide listeners to a state of scenic contemplation.
Maranta began playing guitar in his late teens after picking up his mother's acoustic guitar and becoming obsessed with it. After hearing the orchestral and intricate guitar playing of guitarists such as Andy Mckee, Antoinne Dufour, and John Butler, he was determined to learn their skills. After many years and countless hours of practice, he was able to slowly uncover the techniques that made these guitarists so incredible.
Fast forward to present day and Maranta is now taking those guitar techniques and beginning to try and push the boundaries of the types of music that fingerstyle guitar is typically attached to. Maranta's newest single "Unbroken" was released February 29th. This release leans into it's electronic elements in combination with a driving drum beat and a spacey reverb-heavy electric guitar. At the center of the song, however, is still the acoustic fingerstyle guitar which ties everything together, bringing a sense of peace and calm which often permeates Maranta's music.
