In an interview, Andrew Paley once described his songwriting as the pursuit of "open spaces, sharp edges and bright colors." He was referring at the time to his work with the critically acclaimed post-punk band <a href="spotify:artist:3FCdJMDGPAk9JrXymOkpAZ" data-name="The Static Age">The Static Age</a>, but it's now clear that he’s carried that spirit with him into the next chapter.
And that next chapter is growing into a book of its own – a collection of albums, singles, and collaborations that seamlessly cross genres of post-punk, alt-pop, art rock, folk, and electronica, and garner comparisons ranging from <a href="spotify:artist:7C4sUpWGlTy7IANjruj02I" data-name="Peter Gabriel">Peter Gabriel</a> to <a href="spotify:artist:4LEiUm1SRbFMgfqnQTwUbQ" data-name="Bon Iver">Bon Iver</a>, from <a href="spotify:artist:2VAvhf61GgLYmC6C8anyX1" data-name="Boards of Canada">Boards of Canada</a> to <a href="spotify:artist:2ApaG60P4r0yhBoDCGD8YG" data-name="Elliott Smith">Elliott Smith</a>. In addition to his solo work, Paley has released collaborations with artists like <a href="spotify:artist:6kyUfziWP8ydAsKzyXsC83" data-name="StayLoose">StayLoose</a> (including "Let Go" on <a href="spotify:artist:77AiFEVeAVj2ORpC85QVJs" data-name="Steve Aoki">Steve Aoki</a>'s Dim Mak), <a href="spotify:artist:6TwO05VN5ZM3DYVEsP9vjK" data-name="OMAS">OMAS</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:56Adjcmdh6qICMhFUOuPER" data-name="DRYVE">DRYVE</a>, plus a split with folk-punk band <a href="spotify:artist:3wRGr9z5I5xmmVc21fIvC6" data-name="Days N Daze">Days N Daze</a> featuring dual versions of Paley’s song "Caroline."
Now, this body of work will continue to expand with the forthcoming album “UV,” which will be released initially as a series of singles. The first, “Dead Centuries,” is out July 19th, 2024.
A Summer tour in Europe with <a href="spotify:artist:2y19rzmHIF4YOLHm7AW0pl" data-name="Dead On A Sunday">Dead On A Sunday</a> will follow, adding to Paley’s already extensive touring across the US, Europe, Japan, Brazil, New Zealand, and elsewhere, including with artists like <a href="spotify:artist:27iSHWBZHxt78LIPJo9O2v" data-name="Bob Nanna">Bob Nanna</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:36gdsrHzKZ0Wyb3uH7ZbEv" data-name="Braid">Braid</a>/<a href="spotify:artist:0R8uN7rVUuKGfTXQHjvB5U" data-name="Hey Mercedes">Hey Mercedes</a>), <a href="spotify:artist:0ZgPUzVnCnkMLT40rMvNYn" data-name="Garrett Klahn">Garrett Klahn</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:7rXo5QTwwFBYZ5Z3veUVg8" data-name="Texas Is The Reason">Texas Is The Reason</a>), <a href="spotify:artist:6GtsYHPoyiQLBhtMi8MuHe" data-name="Adam Rubenstein">Adam Rubenstein</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:1Zvsa9efHLGTxnRqqPuaTr" data-name="Chamberlain">Chamberlain</a>), <a href="spotify:artist:7taxbHlqWyBiQEc38vNT9z" data-name="Emperor X">Emperor X</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:67koLjNJIwd3at8sM8EAkt" data-name="The Bridge City Sinners">The Bridge City Sinners</a>.
