Andy Oliveri & the Mountaineers explore all angles of their collective musical heritage on debut album. Produced by James Bragg (Gengahr, Tourists) ‘Call Them Brothers’ is not only a cumulative history of great songwriters but is indicative of the way in which those albums were created.
The album's lead single, 'Where Wild Flowers Grow Fondly' channels a fuzzy 8 minute haze of the band's shoegaze and krautrock influences, and received airplay from Mark Radcliffe (BBC6Music), Steve Lamacq (BBC6Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X).
After a summer of touring and festival appearances, the band retreated to record their next single 'Dragonfly' released in March 2018. The event was marked by the first 'Circus Envy Festival', a one-day event celebrating music and art curated by the band. Follow-up 'Six Sisters' combined motorik rhythms, erratic guitars and soaring vocal harmonies, the single displays a sonic shift with the band taking on the role of production for the first time. "When we started recording it was clear we all had these individual ideas and started building these pockets of sound, later compiling them together" says Oliveri, "it was inspiring to bring five minds together and 'Six Sisters' is the truest reflection of this band yet."
