Born in Tupelo, Mississippi and raised in a little community named Eggville to the southeast, Andy Ratliff was drawn to all kinds of roots music, history and folklore that grew out of the Southern states of the US. He has been singing his whole life. If you ask him what his first instrument was, he might say "my voice". The piano in his grandmother's house started the fascination of the sounds that musical instruments could produce. Listening to his Uncle Jeff's band at family gatherings created dreams of having his own band one day.

Andy has always had a love and appreciation for all styles of roots music. There is something about the "raw" sound of roots music that stirs his soul. Heartfelt vocals seem to flow from Andy like an old muddy creek after a steamy southern rain. He plays the guitar, mandolin, and various forms of banjos mostly, but has been known to pick up anything with strings and make music.

Andy started his music career playing in local bands around Tupelo but soon moved to Memphis with hopes of finding new musical friends and inspiration. Memphis provided opportunities and friends that helped him mature as a musician and artist. Living in Memphis a few years he made friends that he still plays music with today. Andy has lived in Nashville as a session and touring musician but has come back home to Mississippi where he continues to create original songs and play as a sideman for various artists.
